The 6 Principles ensure that East Galway & Midland Cancer Support is managed efficiently, ethically and transparently, which is essential in fulfilling its charitable mission and maintaining public confidence.

East Galway & Midland Cancer Support is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. The Board do not receive any payment of any kind, are responsible for the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring due diligence and legal compliance. The Board Members are selected to be representative of the community served by East Galway & Midland Cancer Support.

The Board has delegated responsibility for the day-to-day management, operational delivery of services, implementation of strategic plans and decisions approved by the Board to the Director of Services.

The Board of Directors

    The Board ensure that all decisions serve the overall goals and objectives of East Galway & Midland Cancer Support.
  2. Behaving with Integrity.
    The Board, staff and volunteers act with integrity, adopting and adhering to high ethical standards.
  3. Leading people.
    The Board provides leadership by ensuring that East Galway & Midland Cancer Support has a clear vision, strategy and plans to achieve its goals.
  4. Exercising Control.
    The Board ensures that East Galway & Midland Cancer Support has effective policies, procedures and controls in place to manage finances, risk and compliance with legal obligations.
  5. Working Effectively.
    The Board works as an effective team with the appropriate balance of skills, knowledge and experience to make informed decisions. Meetings are well-structured and there is regular evaluation of the Boards performance ensuring continuous improvement.
  6. Being accountable and transparent.
    The Board is accountable to its beneficiaries, funders and other stakeholders, including the public.

Financial transparency is paramount, with the publication of accounts and reports.
